How to apply for asthma disability?
Asthma is a severe chronic disease that affects the broncho-pulmonary system. As a result of asthma, the airways are significantly narrowed. The patient develops a characteristic cough, after physical exertion, shortness of breath occurs. The disease can be accompanied by prolonged attacks of suffocation. But the presence of such a diagnosis in itself is not a reason for a person to receive a disability. In addition, it is necessary to collect and submit a number of documents.
What documents are required?
You will need:
- passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation or a document replacing it;
- documents confirming the state of health.
- referral to medical and social expertise;
- compulsory health insurance policy
Instructions
- Identify changes in your well-being that have occurred since the diagnosis. Not the disease itself, but its consequences play an important role in determining the disability group. Doctors pay special attention to such factors as long-lasting and frequent attacks of suffocation, an inflammatory process in the lungs, which is chronic. Dependence on hormonal drugs, heart or pulmonary failure are also serious complications in bronchial asthma, which can be the basis for disability.
- As a rule, with asthma there are no sharp leaps in the deterioration of the body's condition, the disease progresses slowly. Thanks to modern medicines, asthmatic attacks stop for a long time, and the patient does not experience any complaints for a long time. From the moment of the disease, more than one year passes before it becomes impossible to maintain an active lifestyle and work as before. The patient must be registered in his clinic, periodically undergoing examination in the hospital.
- If you decide to apply for a disability, start by talking to your healthcare provider. He may suggest a different treatment regimen or recommend consulting with specialists from other areas of medicine. Even if, according to the doctor, there are no grounds for determining at least the third group of disability, he cannot refuse to issue a referral for a medical and social examination.
-
To pass the medical commission, get a special form from a pulmonologist or therapist, where the results of the doctors' examination are entered. The required minimum includes sputum culture and analysis, urinalysis, ECG, spirography, lung x-rays, general and biochemical blood tests, and blood sugar tests. Everyone who passes the commission must be examined by a cardiologist, surgeon, and neurologist. Additional studies can be prescribed for severe disease. So, the conclusion about the work of the adrenal glands is mandatory for those who have been taking medications containing hormones for a long time.
- After the results of the tests and examination of the doctors, you must again contact the therapist. He makes the necessary entries in the patient's card, and then sends it to the ITU. If there is a disagreement between the doctor and the patient, then the reason for the examination will be indicated "at the request of the patient."
- Medical examination takes place at the Bureau of Medical and Social Expertise, where you must first register. At the reception, you should take your passport, referral to the commission and certificates from the clinic, compulsory medical insurance policy.
- After studying the information provided, ITU experts will ask a number of questions about the quality of life, the peculiarities of work, about the state of health, after which they will either assign a disability group, or make a negative decision. To dispute the results, you must contact the Main Bureau of the region, the next instance is the court.
Disability group in bronchial asthma
When determining the disability group, they are guided by the general state of health, the ability of a person to serve himself independently, the ability to work and interact with other members of society.
Group 3. With an average degree of the disease, group 3 is put, which implies restrictions in work. It can be a shorter working day or contraindications to work in dusty, poorly ventilated areas.
Group 2. If the impairment of lung function is moderate, group 2 is given. Indications are also hormonal disorders, malfunctions of the endocrine system, kidney and pancreas. Work is possible either remotely or with the organization of special conditions.
1 group. In the presence of irreversible changes in the body, characteristic of a severe form of the disease, 1 group is established.
