Fibroadenoma is a tumor, this disease is referred to as a nodular form of mastopathy. The tumor has clear contours and is well palpable. When diagnosed with a mammograph and ultrasound, the formation is visually sufficiently visible. The disease is almost asymptomatic, women complain mainly of discomfort and cosmetic surface defect. In some cases, slight soreness is felt.

The size of the tumor can be several millimeters or centimeters. Fibroadenoma is a fairly common benign breast tumor, usually spherical, has a smooth surface, unlike a malignant tumor, and is mobile on palpation. The cause of tumor growth is an increased amount of estrogen, it is observed to increase in size at the end of the menstrual cycle and during pregnancy.

At the end of menopause, fibroadenoma decreases simultaneously with a decrease in estrogen levels. In this regard, in order to slow down the growth of the tumor, hormone replacement therapy is included in the treatment process. Fibroadenoma is usually detected suddenly; a woman can feel with her fingers a neoplasm in the form of a "ball" with a smooth surface and a clear outline. The so-called leaf-shaped fibroadenoma can be especially large in size.

Fibroadenoma consists of connective and epithelial tissue, as well as the mammary gland itself. Distinguish leaf-shaped fibroadenoma, the tumor received this name due to the fact that with a layer-by-layer section, you can see a pattern resembling a plant leaf. This type of tumor is characterized by rapid growth and the ability to degenerate into a sarcoma - a malignant tumor.

Research has shown that fibroadenoma cannot harm the fetus. But due to the tendency to increase in size with the changing level of hormones, and, as is known during pregnancy, it rises significantly, it may be necessary to have an operation to remove the tumor. This disease is more susceptible to girls and young women over 30.

If the breast swells and hurts a lot, thickens before menstruation, then you need to immediately undergo an examination by a mammologist and gynecologist in order to determine the concentration of hormones in the blood and choose an adequate treatment. The development of fibroadenomas is associated with changes in the hormonal levels of the thyroid gland, adrenal glands, pituitary gland and ovaries. A tumor is a companion of diseases caused by dysfunctions of the thyroid gland, the central nervous system, the reproductive system, the functions of the ovaries, and the pituitary gland.

Can I sunbathe with fibroadenoma?

There are a number of factors that stimulate the growth of breast fibroadenoma. The tumor occurs with frequent psycho-emotional experiences, physical overwork. When a tumor is detected, it is necessary to know what not to do in order not to provoke its growth.

Overheating in direct light and visits to the solarium are unfavorable.

Often women are under the illusion that the sun is not dangerous, and ultraviolet radiation is useful, helps the body to produce vitamin D. They are mistaken in the opinion that the sun can help to cure many diseases.

So, with fibroadenoma, ultraviolet light is a conceragen.

It can provoke the appearance of breast cancer. Taking baths with a water temperature above 38 ° C is categorically excluded. Local massage and intensive kneading of a healthy breast are contraindicated, and especially these manipulations should not be performed during the period of formation of seals.

Treatment of this type of tumor involves surgery. There are two methods for removing fibroadenoma - enucleation (husking) and sectoral resection of the breast. Enucleation of the tumor is appropriate if there is no suspicion of cancer; it is performed under local anesthesia.

Sectoral resection is performed if a benign tumor is found to degenerate into cancer. This operation involves removing the tumor along with the surrounding tissues. Treatment of fibroadenoma can be conservative, it is determined individually for each woman. Treatment tactics are selected depending on the age, size and structure of fibroadenoma, on the general condition.

The complex of therapeutic measures includes weight normalization if the indicators exceed the norm. It is also important to correct the violation of hormonal levels, usually iodine therapy is prescribed to increase the amount of hormones. There are no specific methods of primary prevention yet. Correct selection of hormonal contraceptive drug can improve the situation. Regular examination using breast ultrasound is the main component of the prevention of this disease.
