Botanical characteristics of rue

Fragrant rue is a perennial, fragrant and strong plant. The stems of the plant are erect, branched and bare, growing no more than half a meter. On the low stems of the rue, alternate leaves are located, which have translucent glands containing essential oil. Ruta flowers have linear bracts. The flowers are bisexual, which gather in inflorescences - panicles. Sepals are acute triangular in shape with translucent glands. The petals of the plant are loose, boat-shaped, yellow in color, which are attached to the glandular disc. There are about 10 stamens in the flower. The fruit of the rue is a spherical box with seeds. Seeds are black in color, viable for 5 years. The fruit of the rue ripens in the month of September.
Ruta is rarely seen wild. It is grown in the Mediterranean, Moldova, the Caucasus, Belarus and the Baltics.
Growing fragrant rue
Ruta prefers to grow on gravel, loamy or calcareous soils. The plant is drought-resistant. The plant does not like excess moisture in the soil. Ruta is not a whimsical plant, since it does not need special growing conditions, and it can grow in one place for about 5 years, giving a good harvest.

When the frost has passed, you can land on a permanent place. Plants can be transplanted if desired.
Throughout the year, seedlings will not grow higher than 12 cm. In winter, seedlings are covered so that they do not freeze. In the spring, they remove the cover from the seedlings and remove the dead and frozen branches of the plants. After pruning bad branches, the soil is fed with nitrogen fertilizer.
Useful properties of rue

Broth of rue for vitamin deficiency. Take 1 gram of rue leaves, 2 grams of violet (herb), and 2 grams of elderberry flowers. 1 tablespoon of this collection is poured into 200 ml of boiling water and boiled for 1 minute. Straining the broth, take it in 100 ml 2 times a day.

Ruta contraindications
