Motherwort
The use of motherwort and tincture from it
Motherwort herb
Motherwort is a plant of the labiate family, which is also a herbaceous perennial. Among the medicinal properties of the five-lobed motherwort, it is noted that it helps to lower blood pressure, has sedative properties, has a positive effect on the strength and rhythm of heart contractions, and also has a positive effect on the central nervous system. The herb helps get rid of cramps and relieves spasms, lowers cholesterol, glucose, certain types of acids, as well as lipids in the blood, normalizes the metabolism of fats and carbohydrates.
The motherwort plant acquires its beneficial properties when it blooms. Upper parts are used, rigid lower parts are not used. Motherwort contains such useful components as tannins, some alkaloids, essential oil, cardiac glycosides, bitterness, etc.
Motherwort tincture
The tincture is made with alcohol mixed with the green part and flowers of motherwort and five-lobed. Tincture is a liquid with a slightly bitter taste and faint odor, dark green (marsh) hue, free of sediment and turbidity.
Among the main beneficial properties of motherwort, the following are distinguished: it has a positive effect on the function of the heart and its muscles, soothes the nerves and lowers blood pressure. It was even noted that the effect of motherwort tincture exceeds the effect of medicinal preparations containing valerian, and not less than three times. However, the result from the use of the tincture will be only with its regular and prolonged use.
Reception of this tincture is effective in the presence of high blood pressure, neurosis, insomnia, heart rhythm disturbances, neurasthenia, at the first stage of hypertension, as well as many failures of an asthenic-neurotic and neurotic nature.
Usually, a dose of thirty to fifty drops, three or four times a day, is recommended for taking. In addition, the use of the tincture is safe even when taking other medicines and sedatives. The result begins to appear in about fourteen days from the first day of administration. taking motherwort increases the activity of the effects of sleeping pills and drugs that relieve and dull pain.
Side effects include the appearance of a rash on the skin. In addition, motherwort is categorically contraindicated for people suffering from bradycardia and low blood pressure.
Motherwort for children
Motherwort is prescribed for children in the presence of fears and anxiety, as it reduces the general excitability of the nervous system and reduces the frequency of heartbeats if they are excessively intense. If the child is less than two years old, then usually motherwort is poured when taking a bath. The mechanism of action is as follows: the motherwort is absorbed into the skin, plus the child will breathe, and therefore, through the air, the motherwort will enter the body.
In difficult situations, there is such a recipe: a glass of boiling water must be mixed with a teaspoon of raw materials, taken 3 times a day, but the maximum dose is two teaspoons, otherwise the intake can be harmful. If the child is older, then a tincture is allowed, which is dripped into the water - about one or two drops per half glass. However, a preliminary visit to the doctor and his recommendations will be useful.
Motherwort during pregnancy
Pregnant women can take motherwort and not worry about the consequences at all, many doctors even prescribe it specifically. Moreover, the same valerian may be more undesirable, although its intake is considered acceptable during pregnancy. Valerian is much ahead of motherwort, and the threat of overdose or adverse effects is stronger. However, it happens that the simultaneous intake of both motherwort and valerian is prescribed, because sometimes one complements the beneficial properties of the other.
If, when reading the instructions for motherwort pills, you see that pregnant women are prohibited from taking them, then you should not immediately panic. Most likely, the tablets contain other harmful substances that can have an adverse effect on the body of the mother and child, and motherwort has nothing to do with it. For this reason, motherwort broth is more recommended.
Moreover, for pregnant women, it is indispensable for relieving feelings of anxiety and tension, if before that there was any stress or a situation that provoked nervous anxiety. However, it should be remembered that motherwort should not be taken regularly, but only periodically.
Among other things, there are cases when a motherwort is specially assigned to a woman in a position, as it helps to relax and calm down, especially with the possible danger of abortion. Indeed, for a mother this is a heavy stress, but it is at this time that she must pull herself together and do everything so that her experiences do not harm the child.
There is also a special herbal blend that can also help calm you down. To prepare it, you need to mix ten drops of motherwort, hawthorn and valerian tincture (there should be thirty in total) in water and drink, plus the beneficial effect of hawthorn on the cardiovascular system. But this composition should also be used only occasionally, because the infusions are alcohol-containing.
