Causes of a purulent carbuncle
A purulent carbuncle can occur in the area of damaged skin, its appearance is provoked by profuse sweating, colds, and the ingress of pyogenic bacteria under the skin. The cause of a purulent carbuncle can be gastrointestinal dysfunction, changes in the functioning of the kidneys and liver, low body weight, excess weight, lack of vitamins, and high blood sugar.
Some authors believe that the carbuncle develops as a result of the fusion of a number of boils. A furuncle is a purulent inflammation on the skin in the area of the hair follicle caused by Staphylococcus aureus and other pyogenic microorganisms. When diagnosed, a carbuncle may be mistaken for a phlegmon.
The site of localization of the carbuncle in most cases is the area of the back, shoulder blades, the back of the neck, buttocks, as well as arms and legs. During the development of the disease, there is an accumulation of cellular elements and pus in the tissues. Pressing on the area of inflammation or careless movement can cause severe pain. In the area of tissue damage, edema forms, the skin becomes red. The patient's condition deteriorates sharply, his temperature rises, vomiting appears, and loss of consciousness may occur.
Carbuncle autopsy
Treatment of carbuncle most often requires only the appointment of antibiotics, pain relievers and high-calorie nutrition. At the stage of necrosis, an operation is shown, during which the zones of fluctuation are opened.
The fluctuation zone forms a few days after the onset of the inflammatory process. This is the reason for the opening of the carbuncle with the formation of several rods with pus. After the expiration of pus for a long time, an ulcerative surface remains, which does not heal for a long time (from two to four weeks). In addition to marks on the skin, carbuncles can also cause complications, namely meningitis, septic diseases, lymphangitis, etc.
Opening of the carbuncle is indicated under local anesthesia when significant tissue edema appears. A cross-shaped incision is made on the surface of the affected tissue, necrotic tissues are removed, and leaks are opened. Pus is removed from the cavity by drainage, the wound is washed with an antiseptic solution. After the end of the operation, the wound is covered with a gauze bandage with a hypersaline solution. After two days, the tampons are removed. After a while, with the help of skin grafting, you can get rid of the scar. The operated patient needs rest.
In order to prevent the disease, it is very important to follow the rules of personal hygiene.
