Treatment of E. coli in urine
What should a person know if E. coli is found in his urine? First of all, don't panic prematurely. You should definitely know that Escherichia coli belongs to those microorganisms that create normal intestinal microflora, participating in the digestion process, suppressing the reproduction of some pathogenic bacteria and promoting the production of vitamin K. But, getting from the intestine into another environment of the body (for example, the genitourinary system) E. coli can cause many dangerous diseases. These include acute bowel disorders, cystitis and pyelonephritis, vulvovaginitis, urethritis, etc.
Therefore, a person should definitely make sure that the urine test was actually collected correctly. For example, urinalysis for bacterial culture should be carried out exclusively with the help of a catheter, because E. coli after stool can settle on the skin of the perineum, getting into the analysis sample and distorting its results.
Pathogenic effect of E. coli in urine
If the analysis was collected correctly, you should definitely consult a doctor, because Escherichia coli, getting into the urinary tract, becomes the cause of the inflammatory process. For example, about half of all cases of pyelonephritis (inflammation of the kidneys) are due to E. coli. It also causes four out of five cases of cystitis in women.
Once in the urinary tract, E. coli is not excreted along with urine, but penetrates further into the bladder, provoking inflammation. Due to physiological characteristics, women and children are more susceptible to diseases of this kind (due to fragile immunity, unable to resist harmful microorganisms).
Often, E. coli in the urine can also cause cystitis. It also has a depressing effect on the immune system, creating favorable conditions for the development of more dangerous infectious diseases (gonorrhea, urethritis, chlamydia).
Treatment of E. coli in urine
If Escherichia coli in the urine has not caused any pathological changes and the person does not feel any alarming symptoms, most likely he will not need special treatment. The exception is pregnant women and people preparing for pelvic surgery.
For treatment, uroseptics, antibiotics and biologically active additives are used that support human immunity and prevent the development of infection. Used for treatment and traditional medicine. For example, mummy (0.5 g) is recommended before meals three times a day for a month - and the condition will noticeably improve.
