Causes and symptoms of bitch udder

Bitch udder

An acute inflammatory process that occurs in the sweat glands of the armpit is called hydradenitis or bough udder. The disease is characterized by the collection of pus in the ducts responsible for the removal of sweat.

Causes of a bitch udder

A bough udder is formed with weakened immunity, with diseases of the endocrine system, with damage to the working capacity of the sweat glands, when the body is attacked by a bacterial infection for the second time. Such a serious illness can be the result of physical overload and nervous stress. Anemia and obesity are considered to be one of the causes of udders.

With improper or insufficient adherence to the rules of personal hygiene, with a cut or damage caused by shaving, streptococci or staphylococci enter the bloodstream, which also causes a serious inflammatory process. Diaper rash, allergies to deodorants, and excessive sweating also contribute to the development of the disease.

Symptoms of a bitch udder

The disease does not have a pronounced onset of the inflammatory process and is always growing. Initially, the patient is worried about itching and painful swelling, which has a denser structure. Such seals, hilly nodes, are located in the layers of the dermis or hypodermis.

Over time, the swelling increases in size, becomes hard and delivers quite painful sensations. During this period, the nodes grow together with the skin, take on a pear-like shape and bulge out in the form of nipples. These unusual formations resemble "udder boughs". The color of the skin changes to purple and a slight swelling of the tissues can be seen.

Then, in the central part, the inflammation softens and pus with a small amount of blood, which has the consistency of sour cream, is spontaneously secreted. During illness, a slight increase in body temperature, chills and general weakness are possible. After the completion of purulent discharge, the abscess heals and the pain decreases.

Relapses often occur, which results in a protracted course of the disease. A branch udder usually occurs on one side, but sometimes it is also two-sided. The course of the disease lasts from ten to fifteen days. It is necessary to take into account certain characteristics of the patient and, if a person is obese, does not follow the hygiene of the body, has diseases such as hyperhidrosis or diabetes mellitus, then it is possible that the course of the disease will be longer.

If you do not pay enough attention to the treatment of the disease, then inflammation affects other departments responsible for the secretion of sweat. Often accompanied by complications (sepsis or abscess). Therefore, treatment should be started when the first symptoms appear.

Diagnostics of a bitch udder

Determining a disease such as a branch udder does not provide much difficulty. Initially, the doctor conducts a thorough examination of the patient and assesses the location of the inflammatory process and the clinical picture characteristic of the disease. It is quite easy for an ignorant person to confuse a bough udder from a boil, but a specialist will pay attention to the main distinguishing feature - a necrotic core. With udder branching, such a rod is not formed. Also, the disease must be distinguished from collicative tuberculosis. It has a longer course and is characterized by severe inflammation of the lymph nodes, while painful sensations do not appear.

The main diagnosis is a clinical blood test. If the compaction is a disease of the udder branch, then there is an acceleration of ESR and a greater number of leukocytes, which indicates an inflammatory process.

When deciding on the use of antibiotic therapy, sowing is performed to determine the susceptibility to antibacterial drugs. Long-term illness and its recurrence are indications for an immunogram, which will allow examining the body's immune system.

The treatment of the udder of a bitch is carried out under the supervision of a physician using antibiotic therapy, sulfonamides, autohemotherapy and nitrofurans. In case of repeated, recurrent forms of the disease, individual immunotherapy is used, various modern means are used to generally strengthen the body.

For higher efficiency, local treatment of the udder of a bitch is used: dry heat, irradiation with ultraviolet and sun rays, UHF, ichthyol cake (changes several times a day with purulent discharge). Also used are tinctures for alcohol of Sophora and Arnica, herbal infusion and decoction of St. John's wort, juice from Kalanchoe leaves, sea buckthorn and eucalyptus oil.

When an abscess forms, it is advisable to open it with a small incision. In this case, in the future, a surgical method and herbal medicine are used for its treatment. To protect the wound from infection, it must be closed with a special bandage or plaster. For this, stickers are usually used, for example, a bactericidal patch, so as not to rub pus when moving into the wound.

The first 3 - 5 days, when the udder disease is just beginning to progress, it is necessary to warm up the areas where pain is felt with dry heat. This should be done every 3 to 5 hours. Warming up can be carried out independently, heating with a hot iron a clean towel, preferably a terry towel, and applying it to the inflamed area, holding it until it cools down. This must be repeated several times. For the same purposes, you can use bags of salt or sand, which are preheated.

Useful for the treatment of udder limbs is the use of blue. To do this, it is necessary to warm up the inflamed area several times a day for five minutes, keeping the distance between the lamp and the body surface about 20 cm. Expose the inflamed areas of the body to the hot rays of the sun using its ultraviolet radiation, it is recommended in the warm season. The duration of such a session is from ten minutes to half an hour.

To localize the disease and prevent spread to other sweat glands, to shorten the recovery time, it is recommended to carefully remove hair with scissors, preferably manicure, that grows in the inflamed area and nearby.

When the treatment is completed, it is not advised to take a bath for another week. It is better to take a shower, before that, having sealed the inflamed area with a plaster (simple or bactericidal) so that water does not get under it, which contributes to the spread of infection.

Blotting the body with gauze napkins, which must first be moistened in a weak solution of potassium permanganate, has a beneficial effect. It is advisable to do this in the morning and evening. To prevent the spread of infection to the glands that are adjacent to abscesses, the skin around them should be treated with camphor, boric or salicylic alcohol three or four times a day.

For a speedy recovery, special dietary food is prescribed, from the first day of illness and at least three months. The diet implies the elimination of alcoholic beverages, spicy foods, and a reduction in the consumption of sweets. People who smoke should give up this habit.

The diet should be rich in foods containing vitamins A, C, B1, B2, B6, iron, phosphorus. Therefore, it is recommended to compose the menu, including eggs, dairy products, butter, liver, tomatoes, green peas, vegetable oil, cabbage, carrots, apples, citrus fruits, berries, black currants, rose hips, almonds, peanuts, walnuts.

Since one of the reasons for the development of a bitch udder is a decrease in immunity, it is necessary to increase it by using internally aloe juice, plantain, yeast (or dry brewer's yeast), healing tincture of ginseng or eleutherococcus, sea buckthorn oil.

An extensive selection of recipes from a bitch udder is offered by traditional medicine. You can use various decoctions and herbs. In addition, folk recipes also suggest using sour cream cakes, miraculous compresses from baked onions to accelerate the breakthrough of an abscess and compresses using an ointment obtained from onions.

To prevent the occurrence of udder udder disease, it is recommended to always adhere to special personal hygiene, try not to wear clothes made of synthetic fabrics that impede movement, and also not to overcool and overheat. If you have problems with excess weight, any low-calorie diet is recommended to normalize your weight. You should also abandon perfume and cosmetic products, since in most cases they provoke the onset of the udder branch disease.
