Paraovarian ovarian cyst - located between the tube and the ovary of the broad ligament of the uterus. Due to the development of the body, during puberty, the appendages reach their maximum size, which causes the appearance of a cyst. A cyst is a cavity that contains fluid of different consistency and structure. It is a benign formation of various sizes, consisting of one or more chambers with fluid. It is customary to distinguish cysts from the nature of the internal contents and the histological structure of the capsule. The disease often starts during embryonic development, but is not inherited.

A cyst can appear and disappear by itself, without any unpleasant symptoms or painful sensations. But there may also be problematic cysts, characterized by the appearance of pain, bleeding and even ruptures of the cyst itself. In such cases, surgery is required.

Unfortunately, a fairly common disease is a paraovarian cyst, which develops in women of childbearing age, in some cases it can be observed in adolescents. But there is one good point - the paraovarian cyst never turns into a malignant formation, so the development of ovarian oncology is excluded. However, the cyst can grow to a large size, due to which the abdomen is greatly enlarged, filling the entire space of the abdominal cavity.

Paraovarian cyst

The difference between a paraovarian cyst and a normal cyst is characterized by the following features:

  1. The size.
  2. Composition. Inside the cyst is filled with a clear fluid.
  3. The type of shell, it is very thin.

Most often, a cyst is diagnosed on the right ovary, but it can form on the left ovary, and on two ovaries at once. With a small size of cysts, their presence may not be felt in any way, but a paraovarian cyst can cause certain complications:

  1. Suppuration, characterized by the appearance of sharp pain. To eliminate it, urgent medical attention is required.
  2. Formation of a leg that can twist, also causing pain in the lower abdomen, back, sacrum or lower back. Treatment of a cyst on the left and on the right does not differ from each other.

Symptoms of the paraovarian ovarian cyst

Symptoms of the paraovarian ovarian cyst fully depend on its size. If the size of the cyst is small, then no symptoms may appear at all, and no treatment is required. But if the cyst increases in size, then the following symptoms may appear:

  1. Pain manifested in the lower abdomen, back, sacral region.
  2. Pressure on the bladder, causing pain when urinating.
  3. Constipation.
  4. Stomach upset.
  5. An increase in the volume of the abdomen, a feeling of "fullness".
  6. Rarely - menstrual irregularities and infertility.

Pain with a paraovarian cyst manifests itself periodically, can arise abruptly and abruptly disappear, often intensifies after physical exertion. Pain is generally not associated with ovulation or the menstrual cycle.

The size of the paraovarian cyst can be very different: from 1 to 30 cm (in diameter). Pain is observed when the cyst reaches 5 cm or more. During the growth of the cyst, neighboring organs can be squeezed, and the abdomen increases in size.

Causes of the paraovarian ovarian cyst

The causes of the occurrence of a paraovarian cyst, which are a certain trigger for its development, can be very diverse, from poor ecology to taking medications.

The appearance of the disease can be provoked by various hormonal abnormalities in the female body, malfunctioning of the endocrine glands, and artificial abortion.

Modern medicine has identified the following, the most common causes of cysts:

  1. Follicle maturation disorder.
  2. Early menstruation at age 11 or earlier, or irregular menstruation.
  3. Abortion.
  4. Treatment with Tamoxifen for breast cancer.
  5. Disorders of the endocrine system.
  6. The use of certain drugs.
  7. Some infectious diseases.
  8. Bad ecology.
  9. An increased level of stressful situations.

With the use of oral contraceptives, the risk of developing a paraovarian cyst is reduced, since the pills interfere with the production of eggs.

If there was a paraovarian cyst in the woman's body, then do not worry. If a cyst is found during pregnancy, then there are several options for the development of events.

The first is a small cyst (up to 5 cm). It does not cause any harm and does not affect a woman's ability to become pregnant. Often a woman does not even know about the presence of a cyst.

The second is a large cyst (more than 5 cm). In this case, there is little good, the fact is that large cysts often form legs, which tend to twist, causing severe pain and complications during pregnancy. There is a risk of rupture of the cyst, as a result of which its contents enter the abdominal cavity.

For these reasons, if a pregnant woman has a cyst, she should be under close medical supervision.

When planning a pregnancy, you must undergo a complete examination by a doctor. If an operation was performed to remove the paraovarian cyst, then you should undergo a course of treatment, starting planning the child no earlier than after three monthly cycles. A course of antibacterial anti-inflammatory treatment will not interfere.

Laparoscopy of the ovarian paraovarial cyst (operation)

Unlike other species, the paraovarian cyst does not resolve or disappear on its own. Therefore, if the cyst is large (up to 10 cm) and, if the cyst does not respond to treatment for three menstrual cycles, the doctor may prescribe an operation.

Previously, the paraovarian cyst was removed during abdominal surgery, after which a rather large scar remains. But nowadays they use laparoscopy, which is a more modern and sophisticated method. The recovery period during laparoscopy is several times faster, and practically no traces of surgery remain on the body.

Laparoscopy is performed using a laparoscope - tubes that are inserted into the abdominal cavity through small punctures under ultrasound guidance.

Often in hospitals, abdominal surgery is performed due to the lack of the necessary equipment.
