Treatment of autonomic polyneuropathy
Autonomic polyneuropathy is one of the varieties of polyneuropathy, in which the autonomic nervous system is mainly affected. The factors behind the onset of the disease can be completely different - it can be some kind of infection, or excessive cooling. Also, the disease can develop due to vibration, microtraumatization and other unfavorable reasons.
Vegetative polyneuropathy manifests itself in the form of vegetative-vascular defects, which include marbling of the skin, swelling of the upper and lower extremities, and sudden whitening of the fingers. Vegetative-trophic disorders are defined as excessive thinning of the skin, fragility and fragility of the nail plate, a decrease in the sensitivity of the distal extremities. Dry skin, excessive general or local sweating are some of the main signs of autonomic secretory disorders.
Treatment with medications for this form of the disease does not bring any effective results. The greatest benefit in the treatment of autonomic polyneuropathies is brought by balneo- and physiotherapeutic procedures. For a successful fight against the disease, massage and therapeutic exercises are added to physiotherapeutic methods.
However, when prescribing and choosing the appropriate procedures, one should not forget about the limited functional abilities of patients with this diagnosis. Treatment should be gentle enough but effective. You should not overload the patient, set high bath temperatures or prescribe high concentrations of active ingredients.
The greatest benefit in the treatment of autonomic polyneuropathy is brought by hydrotherapy procedures, both general and local. They have a powerful effect on skin receptors through adequate chemical, thermal, mechanical or radiation exposure. So, the most effective procedures are considered to be topical whirlpool baths (both foot and hand), as well as general radon, sulfide and mineral baths.
The main criteria for determining the degree of effectiveness of such therapy is, first of all, the general health of the patient. It also takes into account the state of his cardiovascular system (blood pressure and pulse indicators, ECG results) and, in particular, the state of the patient's nervous system (the presence and intensity of pain, paresthesias, sleep characteristics, general emotional background).

Not so long ago, whirlpool baths have been used as an effective treatment for autonomic polyneuropathy. These are topical baths that have an incredibly positive effect due to the strong mechanical effect on the limbs. This method is quite successfully used to treat vascular diseases and various injuries. Under the influence of such therapy, the patient's pain syndrome is significantly reduced, the vegetative-vascular symptoms of the disease decrease.
Another effective method for the treatment of autonomic polyneuropathy is the use of baths from natural or artificially prepared radon water. Physiotherapy procedures using radon baths reduce edema and weaken inflammation processes, and help to reduce pain. Such baths significantly accelerate the recovery of damaged nerves and have a calming effect on the central nervous system in general.
When treating with radon baths, blood pressure decreases in patients, and such physiotherapy helps to normalize not only high blood pressure, but also low blood pressure.
Sulfide baths are prescribed for autonomic polyneuropathy in the case when the disease is manifested by disorders in the work of the musculoskeletal system. Also with osteochondrosis of the spine, which is neurological in nature. Such baths, acting through the vessels and skin, have a beneficial effect on the entire autonomic nervous system.
Another type of balneotherapy is mineral bath therapy. This method of treatment can be used alternately with mud therapy. The latter is especially effective in violation of the musculoskeletal system in cases of autonomic polyneuropathy associated with the harmfulness of the patient's profession.
Treatment of autonomic polyneuropathy with physiotherapy must be carried out in a comprehensive manner, not forgetting to take into account the various external manifestations of this disease, and it is also necessary to remember about other concomitant diseases, which happens quite often.
