Consequence and treatment of cervicitis during pregnancy
Cervicitis during pregnancy can turn into a very serious problem for both the woman herself and her baby. The disease significantly increases the risks of various complications: early termination of pregnancy, premature onset of labor, intrauterine infection of the fetus. One of the consequences of a mother's illness may also be the occurrence of purulent-septic lesions of the skin and internal organs in the baby in the first days of life.
Consequences of cervicitis during pregnancy
The maximum risk during pregnancy arises from the ascending route of penetration of infectious agents that cause cervicitis. In this case, microorganisms can enter the uterine cavity, passing through the cervical canal.
If the diagnosis of cervicitis is made at a fairly early stage of pregnancy, then the likelihood of the occurrence of embryopathies of an infectious origin increases sharply, which can be manifested by placental insufficiency and the appearance of various disorders in the formation of the fetus. The consequence of cervicitis can be a miscarriage or fetal freezing.
If cervicitis is found late in pregnancy, then the development of the fetus is accompanied by a significant delay in the development of the child inside the womb, as well as serious infectious diseases that can be local and generalized.
The infectious process acquires a generalized form more often in the first trimester of pregnancy, since the fetus is not able to localize the process of inflammation, which is acute. In later stages of pregnancy, inflammation causes local narrowing of individual channels and openings, which over time manifests itself in the form of abnormal development of the formed organs, leading to the appearance of pseudo-deformities, such as hydrocephalus.
Treatment of cervicitis during pregnancy
Treatment of cervicitis during pregnancy is carried out with the use of antibiotics or antiviral drugs. The most effective and safe for the fetus is "Sumamed" in the form of tablets, at the same time drugs for local use are prescribed. The choice of drugs is determined taking into account the nature of the pathogen and depends on its sensitivity to antibiotics.
If chlamydia becomes the cause of inflammation, it is recommended that pregnant women take tetracycline, drugs of the quinoline group, macrodides, azalides.
Candidiasis requires the appointment of "Diflucan" and locally acting antifungal drugs.
It should be remembered that local drugs are prescribed only during the period of acute inflammation subsiding. The vagina is treated with a 3% solution of "Dimexide" or 2% solution of "Chlorophyllipt"
The most difficult to treat is viral cervicitis. In this case, long-term therapy with antiviral drugs, immunostimulants and vitamin drugs is necessary.
In parallel - to exclude sexually transmitted infections - treatment of the sexual partner is also carried out.
