Botanical characteristics of the golden rod
The golden rod is a perennial rhizome plant, the height of which reaches one meter. Such a unique plant has an erect stem with alternate oblong-elliptical leaves with a sharp serrated edge. Flower baskets of golden rods are of exquisite golden hue and have marginal ligate and small tubular flowers.
Wonderful flower baskets are gathered in a narrow elongated panicle. The herb has a slightly aromatic odor and a bitter astringent taste. The golden rod blooms in July and August. Sometimes bloom can be seen in September. Such a widespread plant can be found in many regions of Russia. The grass prefers to settle in small ravines and forests.
Useful properties of the golden rod
The golden rod contains saponins, alkaloids, various dyes and tannins, as well as a wonderful essential oil. In addition, inulin was found in the roots of the plant. This herb is used for ailments of the bladder and kidney diseases. Such a diuretic is very effective for urolithiasis. Various preparations containing the golden rod are indicated for painful urination. Along with this, the golden rod perfectly stimulates the metabolism. Often this plant is prescribed for all kinds of skin diseases.
Application of the golden rod
In folk medicine, the golden rod is recommended for the treatment of the kidneys and bladder, as well as for bedwetting, rheumatism and gout. For gum abscesses, swelling and purulent wounds, crushed grass leaves should be used. An effective remedy can be made to cure chronic kidney problems, cure dropsy, gout and rheumatism, and relieve stomach pain. To do this, you need to take 2 teaspoons of the herb and pour one glass of fairly hot water. 4 hours after infusion, the mixture should be filtered. You need to take such a drug 50 ml before each meal.
For washing wounds and for healing lotions in the case of treating purulent wounds, we make an infusion of 1 tablespoon of herbs and 250 grams of boiling water. It takes 2 hours to infuse the mixture from the golden rod. After straining, such a healing agent can be used immediately. In addition, it is effective for tonsillitis, various inflammations of the oral cavity, for eliminating bad breath, as well as for excellent gum strengthening. For cuts and ulcers, you can make a special infusion of this wonderful herb with vodka at the rate of 1:10. Such lotions will help cleanse and quickly heal wounds.
Contraindications to the use of the golden rod
No side effects from the use of the golden rod have been identified. However, the internal use of this herb requires some caution. It should also be noted that for some chronic kidney diseases, consultation with a narrow specialist is required.
