Saussurea is a remarkable plant with a thick woody root, the diameter of which can reach 3 cm. Numerous stems with splitting bark have a cobweb-tomentose pubescence. Their height does not exceed 60 cm. Lanceolate and sessile leaves of a dark green hue have a solid edge. Pink-purple flowers appear in June or July. The fruit is represented by an interesting brownish achene with a rather long fly.

As a rule, Saussurea is widespread in the steppes of mountain valleys and typical steppe zones. It is found not only in Altai, but also in Siberia, as well as in Transbaikalia.

Useful properties of Saussurea

Organic acids, alkaloids, tannins, sugars, essential oil, magnesium, calcium, iron, cobalt, aluminum, zinc and copper are found in the herb of this plant. The healing properties of the plant determine its effectiveness in the treatment of polyarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Application of Saussurea

For pulmonary tuberculosis, a remedy is shown based on one tablespoon of crushed Saussurea roots and one glass of water. This mixture should be brought to a boil, kept on low heat for about 5 or 7 minutes, and then insisted for at least two hours. After straining, it is recommended to take the infusion 3 times a day, 2 tablespoons, regardless of meals.

For rheumatoid arthritis, a special remedy can be made. To do this, take 1 tablespoon of raw materials and insist for one hour in a glass of plain water. After that, we must filter the mixture. You can take this medicine up to four times a day, 1 tablespoon. Such an excellent remedy is also effective for severe infectious-allergic polyarthritis.

To make an alcoholic tincture at home, for 100 ml of vodka we take 4 sachets of a pharmaceutical type with this herb. We infuse the mixture in a tightly closed glass container for about 10 days at room temperature. It is recommended to shake the product occasionally. It is not necessary to filter the finished tincture. It is recommended to take it 25 drops for adults and 10 drops for children twice a day. Only your doctor can increase the dosage.
