With amyloidosis, in addition to the treatment prescribed by the doctor, it is necessary to keep a strict diet that will help keep the body in good shape.

First of all, patients with chronic renal and heart failure need to limit their intake of protein and salt. Emphasis should be placed on foods rich in starch (bread, flour products, potatoes, cereals), vitamin C (bell peppers, cabbage, parsley, spinach, oranges, grapefruit, tomatoes, pork liver) and potassium salts (cucumbers, carrots, garlic, legumes, milk, fish).

Potassium contributes to the strengthening and normal functioning of blood vessels, muscles, heart, brain cells, liver, kidneys, nervous system and other organs.

Vitamin C takes part in the formation of collagen, which is responsible for the growth and repair of tissue and blood vessel cells; it has the following actions, regulates redox processes, normalizes blood circulation, has anti-inflammatory properties.

Starch is useful for digestion, cholesterol metabolism and bile acid metabolism.

The diet selected by the attending physician can improve the condition of the affected organs and body systems.
