Symptoms of lumbar chondrosis can occur in people engaged in hard physical work and leading a sedentary lifestyle. This pathology, like all types of chondrosis, is associated with an increased load on the intervertebral discs, which increases with prolonged presence of the body in one position, as well as with sudden movements with simultaneous lifting of weights.

Of the most common symptoms of lumbar chondrosis, pain in the back of the most varied nature can be called - shooting, aching, cutting and burning, in some cases, patients note numbness, a feeling of creeping.

People suffering from lumbar chondrosis may complain of pain, the location of which does not coincide with the place that causes the disease. In this case, it is customary to talk about radiating pain. There are three types of such manifestations: lumbago, lumboscias, sciatica. For the first case, pain in the lumbar region is characteristic, in the second, patients complain of pain in the lumbar region, buttocks and lower extremities. With sciatica, patients suffer from pain in the legs.

Symptoms of the disease often appear after hypothermia, heavy physical exertion, and a long stay in an uncomfortable position. Similar factors contribute to the occurrence of relapses, therefore, patients who are familiar with the symptoms of the disease firsthand, doctors recommend avoiding drafts and lifting weights.

During the course of the disease, pain sensations can increase during walking, coughing, bending of the body. Often, patients involuntarily avoid movements that can cause pain, which causes poor posture, weakness of certain muscle groups. It is important to remember that an accurate diagnosis and the appointment of adequate treatment require specialist advice.

Lumbar Chondrosis Treatment

Basic treatments for lumbar chondrosis require specialist advice, while precautions to avoid recurrence of the disease can be taken without a doctor's prescription.

Patients suffering from chronic chondrosis of the lumbar spine should limit the lifting of heavy objects, avoid drafts and sudden movements. It is recommended to change the position of the body during repetitive work, to take breaks during prolonged sedentary work. Attention should also be paid to the selection of mattresses and pillows that provide a comfortable body position during sleep and rest.

On the recommendation of a specialist, complex treatment can be prescribed using effective methods, such as massage, therapeutic baths, extractor hood, exercise therapy.

It is important to remember that we are talking about the exercises suggested by the doctor. Their regular implementation gives lasting results, helps to avoid complications and prevent recurrence of the disease, while ordinary gymnastics can harm patients.

The set of exercises depends on the severity of the disease and the stage of the pathological process. So, for chondrosis in the acute, subacute stage and during the period of remission, the range of motion and the load on the muscles will differ.

In general, gymnastics with osteochondrosis at any stage of the disease is characterized by a slow pace. There is one more rule that is always relevant for gymnastics with diseases of the spine: exercises that cause pain are performed with a smaller range of motion or are completely excluded.

The main task of exercise therapy for chondrosis is the formation of a muscle corset, which allows you to reduce the load on the intervertebral discs.
