Snyt is a perennial herb of the umbrella family, reaching a height of 50–100 cm. Its rhizome is long, creeping, the stem is hollow, erect, slightly branched in the upper part. Fruits are oblong dark brown two-seedlings 3-4 mm long. It blooms in May-June, fruits ripen in July-August.
The plant is widespread in many European regions of Russia, in Siberia - up to the Yenisei. It grows in mixed forests, on forest edges, clearings, along roads, among bushes. It will grow in the forest shade, but it will never bloom, since it is a light-loving plant. Only in areas illuminated by the sun does it bloom and bear fruit.
