If your lower back hurts in the morning

You wake up when the alarm rings and the first thing you feel is back pain. Sharp or aching, restricting movement or weak - it is always unpleasant, leads to discomfort and makes you suffer.

According to statistics, such pains are familiar to almost half of the country's adult population. Generally, patients are in no hurry to sign up for a consultation with a doctor. Just think, slightly grabbed, with whom it does not happen!

They often get to see a specialist when time is lost, when they have to swallow the strongest drugs by handfuls and even carry out surgery. How can you bring yourself to such a state?

What should be done?

If pain occurs regularly in the morning, it is imperative to be examined. But before that, you should observe yourself for several days, perhaps even write down on a piece of paper: what worries, what is the nature of the pain, when it occurs and when it passes. Pay attention to how physical activity affects: the pain increases the next morning or, conversely, decreases.

Who has morning pains and in what cases:

  • In people who lead an inactive lifestyle, often find themselves in stressful situations.
  • In women after menopause and during pregnancy.
  • In patients suffering from osteochondrosis, scoliosis, arthrosis.
  • In persons with some pathologies of internal organs.
  • Those who have the wrong body position during sleep.

There is no life without movement

It is not in vain that they say: what does not work dies. So our muscles: in conditions of physical inactivity, they atrophy. And the pain in this case is the first bell, which speaks of the need to immediately take care of oneself.

During sedentary work, try to get up more often, leave the office, periodically do exercises from the complex of "invisible" gymnastics, do fitness and do not forget to do exercises in the morning. On your way home, get off the tram or bus 1-2 stops earlier and walk home.

Waiting for a baby

The pain that regularly occurs in the lower back during pregnancy in the morning should alert. This may manifest an inflammatory process in the kidneys or even renal colic. And if there are other signs (fever, frequent urination, swelling, discoloration of urine), immediately inform your doctor about it. The examination will definitely reveal the cause of the ailment.

Often such pains appear in absolutely healthy pregnant women. Physiological changes occur in the body, the abdomen increases, the pressure on the internal organs and blood vessels increases, and as a result, pain occurs. You can't do anything here - you have to endure. Uncontrolled intake of painkillers in this case can subsequently cost the baby dearly.

Osteochondrosis

Interesting: most of the patients are women, but osteochondrosis is most severe in men. Due to excessive loads on the spinal column, metabolism is disturbed in the intervertebral cartilages, they become thinner and deformed, squeezing the vessels and nerves - pain arises. Moreover, morning pain after waking up is the very first sign of an incipient disease. This spinal disorder is not fatal, but extremely unpleasant. A sharp decrease in the quality of life, restrictions on movement, excruciating pains that can intensify, or, conversely, weaken if the patient changes his body position.

Lower back pain occurs in the morning and with its other diseases: osteoporosis, arthrosis, ankylosing spondylitis, scoliosis, rheumatoid arthritis, radiculitis, lumbago, benign and malignant neoplasms localized in this part of the body, microtraumas and injuries of the lumbar spine.

Kidney disease of an inflammatory nature (pyelonephritis, kidney stones) and autoimmune nature (glomerulonephritis) can also lead to lumbar pain after waking up. Often they pass after emptying the bladder. The nature of the pain (it can be both acute and pulling) does not change in any way when changing the position of the body, when making movements. With renal colic, pain often radiates (gives) to the lower abdomen. In this case, changes in urination are almost always observed.

Also, such pain occurs with the following diseases: tuberculosis, stroke, pancreatitis, aortic aneurysm, appendicitis, pathologies of the gallbladder, endometriosis (in women) and other diseases.

Sleep pose. Orthopedic recommendations

Orthopedic surgeons recommend sleeping on your side, with your shoulder resting not on the pillow, but on the mattress. And the pillow itself should be small and rectangular in shape and fit between the shoulder and head. It is better to buy an orthopedic mattress and pillow.

If you have a habit of sleeping on your stomach or back, you need to gradually get rid of it. During sleep in these positions, the human musculoskeletal system endures huge overloads.

Taking painkillers

Allowed only on the advice of your doctor. Self-administration and treatment only leads to the cessation of pain. taking these drugs does not in any way affect the cause, but sometimes it causes complications and has a negative effect on human health.

Prevention

As you can see, there are many reasons for the occurrence of such pain, so you just need to undergo an examination in order to correctly identify the disease and provide quality treatment.

Well, if you are one of those happy people who have just begun the process of changes in the musculoskeletal system, find a good specialist in therapeutic gymnastics and start a new life starting next Monday, in which there will be no room for hypodynamia. But there will definitely be time to visit the pool and play sports. Just don't overdo it!
