The clinic of the disease is due to the type of pathogen of the infectious process and the reactivity of the patient's body. Among the main symptoms of chronic cervicitis are scanty cloudy mucus discharge, sometimes with an admixture of pus, edema and redness of the cervical mucosa. In the acute form of pathology, the symptoms are more pronounced. A woman complains of dull pain in the lower abdomen, minor itching, burning, pain when urinating, bleeding after intercourse.

The disease poses a serious danger to the health of a woman, since with untimely treatment, the walls of the cervix can become denser and lead to other pathologies. The risk of developing cancer, genital dysplasia, and infertility also increases.

When making a diagnosis, the uterus is examined using a mirror and a colposcope. Chronic cervicitis causes thickening of the walls of the uterus and its hypertrophy. The manifestations of the disease are accompanied by cloudy discharge. Also, as part of the diagnosis, it is necessary to conduct a bacterioscopic and bacteriological examination of the secretions of the cervical canal. The urine and blood are simultaneously examined for the presence of sexually transmitted infections. The results of ultrasound of the pelvic organs are being studied. All this allows us to determine the nature of the pathogen and choose the most effective treatment.

Chronic cervicitis treatment

Treatment for chronic cervicitis depends on the underlying cause. In addition to prescribing antibiotics, radio wave therapy is recommended in an outpatient setting. In some severe cases that are difficult to treat, laser, cryotherapy, diathermocoagulation are used.
