Single yellow flowers are placed on long pedicels and have 5 petals. The fruit of the white cinquefoil is presented in the form of nuts. This herb blooms all summer, from May to August.
The fruit of Potentilla is a few nuts of dark olive color, most often they are smooth, but there are also wrinkles. Potentilla bloom begins in late spring - early summer. Cinquefoil has the ability to reduce capillary permeability and constrict blood vessels. It is used for coughs and colds, as it has an expectorant. In addition, this plant is used for the preparation of drugs that have a diuretic effect.
Application of Potentilla
In modern pharmacology and folk medicine, goose cinquefoil is used in the treatment of diseases such as gastritis, pancreatitis, ulcers and urolithiasis. Along with this, she perfectly copes with colic and diarrhea. Potentilla decoction is excellent for cramps and asthma attacks, and also significantly relieves pain in women during menstruation. It should be noted that goose cinquefoil is also used as an external agent.
For medicinal purposes, the rhizome, leaves and aerial part of the plant are used. Potentilla decoction is used for cirrhosis, chronic hepatitis. Tincture with the addition of olive oil is used for cracked skin.
A decoction from the rhizomes of the plant helps to cope with diarrhea, and it is also used for stomatitis, gingivitis and sore throat. Tincture and decoction help with dysentery and internal bleeding.
Cinquefoil is used not only internally, but externally it is also used. For example, externally cinquefoil is used as a remedy for the treatment of tonsillitis, ulcers, burns, stomatitis and periodontal disease. Infusion of Potentilla helps in the treatment of kidney and lung diseases. An ointment is also prepared from Potentilla, which is used for felon, wounds and cracks on the lips. A powder is also made from Potentilla, which is used as a powder for burns, weeping wounds, with external bleeding. Cinquefoil helps to get rid of bad breath.
Cinquefoil is part of many preparations that are used in the treatment of the bladder, kidneys, gout and mycosis.
Decoction of Potentilla rhizomes. To prepare it, take 1 tablespoon of plant rhizomes, pour a glass of boiling water and put on low heat for 15 minutes. After the broth has cooled, strain it. Take a ready-made broth 3, you can 4 times a day, 1 tablespoon. The broth should be consumed an hour and a half before meals. You can make lotions from this broth for hemorrhoids.
With a decoction of the herb, you can wash various wounds on the skin, rinse the mouth and throat for ulcerative stomatitis and tonsillitis, and you can also lubricate chapped lips for quick healing.
Potentilla tea for mouthwash. You need to take 2 teaspoons of cinquefoil rhizomes and pour them 300 ml of boiling water, then leave for 10 minutes on fire. Apply the medicine several times a day as a rinse or irrigate the mouth.
