Symptoms of gastroenteritis in children
Based on the causes of the disease, gastroenteritis in children is divided into acute and chronic. The acute form is observed when eating poor-quality products. Symptoms of chronic gastroenteritis occur periodically due to disruptions in the diet, allergies, parasitic infections. Among the first symptoms of gastroenteritis in children, there are cramping pains in the navel region that extend to the entire abdomen. Most often, painful sensations appear during eating, they can arise and disappear spontaneously.
In addition, the child is worried about flatulence, palpation can detect rumbling in the cecum. Among the alarming symptoms are vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, fever, blood in the feces and vomit. Urgent medical care is needed for a child with the appearance of blood clots in the stool or vomit, a persistent increase in body temperature to 38 ° C Celsius, or with diarrhea with vomiting that does not pass for more than a day.
Treatment of gastroenteritis in children
In the first few hours after the onset of the disease, the patient must completely refuse food in order to restore the work of the gastrointestinal tract. To prevent dehydration of the baby's body, he is given water or a special saline solution prepared from medicines (rehydron, citroglucosolan).
Diet plays an important role in the treatment of gastroenteritis. After a daily fast, the patient is given vegetable and fruit purees without sugar, then chicken or soup is introduced into the diet. On the fourth day, it is allowed to eat bread, cookies, eggs, meat, fish. On the fifth day, they switch to normal feeding, excluding dairy products from the diet, which remain banned for another two days.
To avoid the appearance of gastroenteritis in children, basic rules of personal hygiene, as well as adherence to some recommendations, help: you cannot force the baby to eat through force and let him overeat.
