To eliminate the symptoms of the disease, drugs of various pharmaceutical groups are used: analgesics, NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), corticosteroids and antibacterial agents. They are available in various dosage forms, for all drugs the frequency of use is calculated for a day.

Oral non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs:

  • Ibuprofen - 0.4-0.6 g 2-3 times;
  • Nimesulide - 0.1 g 2 times after meals, maximum - 0.4 g;
  • Ketanov - 1 tablet at intervals of 5 hours, for patients with renal failure and the elderly, a reduced dose of the drug is required;
  • Movalis - 7.5-15 mg each, there are restrictions - the drug is not used in patients under 15 years of age;
  • Indomethacin - start with 1 tablet (25 mg) 2 times, if necessary, the dose is increased to 4-6 pieces when taken three times. The tablets are washed down with milk or plenty of water. In the chronic course of the disease, the tablets are replaced by injections (i / m 60 mg 1-2 times).

The positive quality of this dosage form is the selective effect on a specific site. In addition, when using ointments with NSAIDs and analgesics, there is no side effect on the digestive organs, which cannot be avoided with the oral route of administration. The negative effect of this method of treatment is that the active substance of ointments and gels is absorbed into the skin and muscles with varying degrees of penetration. An additional disadvantage is that the drug remains on clothes and dressings.

The practice of using ointments and gels speaks in favor of the latter, since the gels are better absorbed and more effective.
