Symptoms and treatment of bilateral salpingitis
Bilateral salpingitis, which occurs against the background of the inflammatory process of the fallopian tubes, is a fairly common diagnosis in gynecology. Most often, the pathology is combined with oophoritis and an inflammatory process in the ovaries. When a diagnosis of unilateral salpingitis is made, a septic infection should be assumed, while bilateral salpingitis suggests gonorrhea.
Infectious agents that can cause this disease include E. coli, Trichomonas, streptococci and staphylococci, proteins, chlamydia, Koch's bacillus, viruses and fungi.
In addition, bilateral salpingitis can develop after artificial termination of pregnancy or after spontaneous abortion, after childbirth, and even after menstrual bleeding. In rare cases, the cause of salpingitis can be inflammation of the appendages, which occurs in a chronic form.
Symptoms of bilateral salpingitis
At the initial stage of the inflammatory process, the mucous membranes of the appendages are affected, over time, the muscle layers of the fallopian tubes are involved in the pathological process. With improper treatment or with untimely therapy, an adhesion process begins in the tubes, which leads to a violation of their patency. Adhesions complicate the process of conception and, in exceptional cases, cause infertility.
Bilateral salpingitis can occur in an acute, subacute or chronic form. The acute form of the disease is accompanied by an increase in body temperature above subfebrile values, pain in the lower abdomen, pain during intercourse, difficulty urinating, purulent discharge from the vagina. In terms of its clinical picture, the pathology is very similar to appendicitis, as well as to an ectopic pregnancy.
Treatment of bilateral salpingitis
The method of treating bilateral salpingitis depends on the stage of development of the pathological process. Drug therapy is determined by the individual characteristics of the patient's body and the sensitivity of microorganisms to antibacterial drugs.
Treatment of bilateral salpingitis in the acute and subacute stages requires hospitalization, the appointment of analgesics, sulfonamides, antibiotics, and calcium chloride.
The chronic form of pathology requires balneological and physiotherapeutic procedures.
With the ineffectiveness of conservative treatment and non-transient enlargement of the appendages, an operation is performed.
