Symptoms and treatment of chronic salpingitis

Chronic salpingitis is a fairly common gynecological disease. The cause of the onset of the pathological process is most often sexually transmitted infections, or complications after an abortion.

Among the first symptoms of chronic salpingitis, patients most often note nagging pains in the lower abdomen, decreased appetite, increased fatigue, discomfort when urinating, and periodic chills.

In most cases, women consult a doctor for acute salpingitis, as it is accompanied by high body temperature and severe pain in the lower abdomen. However, even these symptoms are accepted by some patients as a manifestation of food poisoning.

Treatment of chronic salpingitis

The effectiveness of medical care directly depends on the stage of development of the pathological process. The most favorable prognosis is with early treatment of the patient for medical help. Today, symptoms of acute salpingitis are less common in women, and surgery is not often performed. You can relieve inflammation with the help of lidase injections and the use of anti-inflammatory drugs. During treatment, patients require absolute rest and cold compresses on the abdomen.

Bilateral salpingitis most often requires surgical intervention and ends with the removal of the fallopian tubes. The chronic course of the disease, provided that the inflammatory process occurs in both fallopian tubes is considered the most dangerous for women of childbearing age, as it becomes the cause of infertility or ectopic pregnancy.

The treatment of chronic salpingitis is often complicated by the fact that the initial stage of the disease can proceed without any symptoms, and the antibiotic therapy used often does not give the desired effect due to the low sensitivity of microorganisms to drugs.

For the successful treatment of chronic salpingitis, it is necessary to apply an integrated approach to treatment, using, along with drug therapy, physiotherapy procedures and alternative methods of treatment.

The consequence of incomplete treatment, untimely or incorrectly selected therapy can be the appearance of cavities filled with pus in the fallopian tubes, which often leads to serious complications.
