Noises in the ears, head, left and right ear
Noise in ears and head
Many people know firsthand what noise in the ears and head is. Sometimes the sound can be short-lived, but quite often a person is faced with this unpleasant phenomenon for a long period. Usually it is not an independent disease, but a manifestation of another disease. In medicine, tinnitus is called tinnitus. It is not associated with any external sources and arises in the head of each patient individually.
In the inner ear, we have thousands of hair cells that convert sound signals coming from outside into electrical ones that are perceived by our brain. Normally, the hairs of the cells move rhythmically in accordance with the sound vibrations, however, when the hairs are irritated or damaged, their movement becomes chaotic. The sequence of electrical signals is disrupted, and the brain regards them as constant noise. This noise can be weak and strong, intermittent and constant, in the left or right ear.
This unpleasant condition gives a person many problems - mental, emotional and social. As a result of constant tinnitus, patients may experience depression, insomnia, unexplained fear, irritability, distraction. A person's hearing may decrease, imperceptibly for himself, sometimes leading to deafness.
The causes of this phenomenon are often disorders of cerebral circulation, diseases of the cervical spine, cardiovascular diseases, brain tumors, professional activities associated with constant noise and even banal sulfur plugs in the ears.
Noise in the left ear, noise in the right ear
Periodically, patients may experience noise in one or the other ear, which may be associated with exudative otitis media or acute sensorineural hearing loss. With exudative otitis media, there is no pain in the ear, and the noise is disturbing, since exudate (liquid) gradually accumulates in the middle ear cavity.
With unpleasant noise sensations in the left or right ear, one can also assume the presence of Meniere's disease, an anomaly that occurs when blood flow in the small arteries that supply blood to the inner ear is disturbed. This builds up fluid pressure in the inner ear. The main difference between the disease is that bilateral ear damage is extremely rare.
Usually Meniere's disease develops between the ages of 25 and 40, accompanied by symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, loss of balance, and hearing loss. Having found such manifestations of the disease, you should definitely contact an otolaryngologist, otherwise, in the absence of proper treatment, everything can end in complete deafness. The doctor will prescribe physical therapy and the necessary medications.
Dizziness
Simultaneously with noise in the ears and head, patients may experience episodic or regular dizziness. They can be manifested by instability, as well as disorientation in relation to surrounding objects. However, this is not a disease, but just a symptom of various diseases, and this symptom can be expressed both in the form of a slight unsteadiness, and in the form of a strong painful attack.
Why is this happening? As you know, our brain receives information in the form of nerve impulses from 3 sources: the eyes, the inner ear, which is responsible for the vestibular system and balance, as well as from receptors in muscles and joints. It is thanks to the joint work of all these parts of the body that a person maintains balance. In case of any failures in their work, a feeling of instability, instability, disorientation in space appears.
Emotions can also provoke dizziness - tension, stress, and even excessive joy. This happens due to vasoconstriction during the release of adrenaline, and then the brain begins to experience a lack of oxygen.
Often, dizziness occurs with sharp bends, turns of the body and head, which can be triggered by diseases such as vegetative-vascular dystonia, cervical osteochondrosis, otitis media, traumatic brain injury, malignant neoplasms of the brain, Meniere's disease, pathologies of the inner ear associated with a violation of the vestibular apparatus. In the latter case, simultaneously with dizziness, surges in blood pressure, cold sweat, nausea and vomiting can be observed.
To identify the causes of the resulting dizziness, it is necessary to undergo a comprehensive examination - by a neuropathologist, ophthalmologist, ultrasound and ECG. As a treatment, the doctor may prescribe drugs that improve cerebral circulation, physiotherapy (electrophoresis, massage, acupuncture, thermal procedures), manual therapy, and special exercises to improve blood supply to the brain.
In any case, you should not self-medicate, because only a specialist can determine the true cause of any disease and it is he who will prescribe the correct treatment.
