Diet for duodenal ulcer
Destruction of the harmful bacteria Helicobacter pylory, which causes an inflammatory defect in the duodenum, is undoubtedly the key to successful treatment of this pathology. But we must not forget about a therapeutic diet, non-compliance with which negates all the efforts of doctors. Therapeutic nutrition regimes have been developed specifically to facilitate the treatment of peptic ulcer disease and normalize the secretion of gastric juice, which damages the duodenal mucosa.
It must be remembered that foods that stimulate increased secretion of hydrochloric acid include:
- various seasonings and spices (pepper, mustard, horseradish, cloves, etc.); - alcoholic and carbonated drinks; - coffee and tea (strong); - fried food (including fried vegetables and fish); - canned food; - rich meat, fish and mushroom soups; - black bread, butter dough, pies
When choosing foods that weakly stimulate the production of stomach acid, you should focus on:
- dairy and vegetable soups; - boiled eggs, white wheat bread (not fresh); - well-boiled meat and fish; - dairy products of low fat content (cheese, kefir, cottage cheese); - alkaline mineral waters without gas; - dairy and cereal cereals.

The lining of the stomach is irritated by foods rich in fiber. These include peas, corn, beans, asparagus, radishes, turnips, and radishes. Fruits and berries with a tough skin, sinewy and cartilaginous meat, and wholemeal baked goods will also cause harm.
The diet for duodenal ulcer should be nutritious and vitamin. Food should not be very hot or cold. The patient is best suited for food warmed up to 25-30 ° C. Nutrition for this pathology should be fractional: the patient is fed more often (5-6 times a day), but in small portions. Grated food is best absorbed by the stomach. Also, doctors recommend reducing the use of table salt. It is useful to eat apple pies, boiled meat and eggs, lean fish, potatoes, beets, zucchini. Fruits and berries should be ripe and sweet with a soft skin. It is recommended to dilute sweet juices (strawberry, raspberry) with water before use. You can also eat honey, marshmallows, jam and marmalade.
The energy value of foods eaten by a person with peptic ulcer disease should be about 3000 kcal per day.
During an exacerbation, sometimes the most gentle diet is prescribed. It excludes baked goods, allows grated soups with rice, semolina or oatmeal, steamed meat and fish soufflés, liquid mashed cereals, whole milk and cream, soft-boiled eggs. Vegetables, sauces and spices are excluded. It is recommended to drink a decoction of wild rose and wheat bran with a sparing diet.
After surgery, the diet is prescribed on the fourth or fifth day and includes the use of low-fat broth, mashed chicken meat, liquid cereals, tea with lemon and white bread rusks.
Compliance with a diet will contribute to the healing of ulcers, reduce inflammation of the duodenal mucosa, relieve irritation, and normalize secretory function.
