Positive and negative cytomegalovirus igg, consequences
Dangerous cytomegalovirus infection is a disease that belongs to the herpes virus family. The presented infection is ubiquitous in many civilized countries of the world. It is characterized not only by the life-long persistence of the virus, but also by the periodic change of acute conditions and relapses. For cytomegalovirus, special antibodies of the IgG and IgM classes can be detected in the blood.
Incidence rates range from 40 to 60%. The frequency of detection of such seropositive results is determined in feedback with the social status of the person. The transmission of this infection occurs, as a rule, with sufficiently close contact with the carrier. The infected secretion is found in saliva, semen, blood, cervical and vaginal secretions, as well as in breast milk.
Cytomegalovirus is often completely asymptomatic. With primary infection during pregnancy, there is a fairly high risk of infection of the fetus. It should be noted that this disease is in first place in terms of the frequency of intrauterine infection. As a result of this, there are some cases of various pathologies of the baby's development.
The consequences of intrauterine infection of a child can manifest themselves immediately after birth, and also become the main cause of malformations. That is why the mandatory diagnosis of every woman before conception is so important.
As a rule, during the initial diagnosis of acute cytomegalovirus, specific antibodies to IgG and IgM infection will be detected. An indicator of the acute form is their increased number. Also, many antibodies indicate a reactivated or recent illness. For an accurate diagnosis, a special analysis of the avidity of antibodies is often performed in the form of a kind of additional test.
Cytomegalovirus igg positive
In the case of a positive reaction to IgM antibodies and a low IgG avidity index, one speaks of primary infection. Moreover, the infection is in the human body for no more than four months. To fully prove the infection with these particular viruses, the specialist prescribes various blood tests and certain laboratory tests. Their main task is to prove the presence of antibodies in the blood. Another modern PCR method is used to detect cytomegalovirus DNA.
The introduction of cytomegalovirus develops a special immune restructuring of the body. It has been proven that the incubation period lasts from 15 days to 60 days, depending on the age and health of the person. Immunity with such an infection is considered slow and unstable. Reactivation of a latent infection or typical reinfection with an exogenous virus is also possible. Due to its long persistence, such a dangerous virus in the body negatively affects all the available links of the patient's immune system.
The body's defense reaction is based primarily on the formation of specific antibodies to cytomegalovirus infection of such classes of IgM and IgG. These specific antibodies are responsible for the complete lysis of the intracellular virus. Moreover, they inhibit intracellular replication. In the serum of each patient, after primary infection, the available antibodies react with internal proteins. At the same time, the serum of ill patients contains only antibodies that react with envelope glycoproteins.
A certain amount of IgM is the main indicator of disease activity, which plays a significant role in diagnosis. This indicator indicates the severity of infection, reinfection or reactivation. At the same time, the appearance of IgM antibodies in a previously seronegative patient determines the primacy of the disease. IgM antibodies are formed irregularly only with endogenous reactivation of cytomegalovirus. As a rule, they are contained in fairly low concentrations.
The detection of antibodies makes it possible to carry out full-fledged observation in the required dynamics for patients with clinical manifestations of this infection, helping in retrospective diagnosis. It should be noted that in severe forms of cytomegalovirus, the production of antibodies can be greatly slowed down. This applies to expectant mothers, young children and people with reduced immunity.
The main indicator of avidity for cytomegalovirus infection characterizes the undoubted strength of the bonds of the corresponding antigens and specific antibodies. They represent the formation of the immune response of a specific human body to the negative introduction of infection. The result by determining IgM will help to compose a clinical picture of the incidence of the presented virus.
The rate of cytomegalovirus igg
The rate of cytomegalovirus igg is up to 0.5 lgM. If your tests showed a figure less than this, then you have a negative test for cytomegalovirus igg
