Shiksha (other names - crowberry, crowberry, hariska, scarlet, dove, tolkusha, swamp, mute grass) belongs to medicinal plants. For the preparation of medicinal raw materials, the aboveground part of the plant and its fruits are harvested. The collection of herbs is carried out during the flowering period, berries - during the ripening period. In the composition of shiksha, biologically active substances and vitamins have been identified that have a positive effect on the human body.
Shiksha contains a large amount of ascorbic acid, tannins, carbohydrates, as well as an important trace element for the human body - andromedotoxin. The fruits of the plant contain essential oil, carbohydrates (arabinose, fructose, glucose and sucrose), tannins, saponins, triterpene coumarins, flavonoids, wax and fatty oil.
A large amount of vitamin C, phenol carboxylic acids (including coffee), alkaloids, coumarins, flavonoids and anthocyanins, tannins were found in the leaves of the plant.
Application of shiksha
Shiksha is used as a raw material only in folk medicine. Decoctions and infusions prepared on its basis are recommended by healers to relieve headaches and fatigue. Shiksha is also prescribed for edema, dropsy, problems with urination, paralysis, convulsions, gastritis, metabolic disorders of the body, diarrhea, colitis.

Shiksha has a sedative effect, its decoctions are an effective remedy used in complex therapy in the treatment of nervous disorders and nervous exhaustion. The plant helps with epilepsy, chronic fatigue syndrome. Shiksha is known to be used in Tibetan medicine to treat liver and kidney diseases (internal use); acne, ulcers, wounds, rashes (external use). Recipes for making infusions, decoctions and compotes
Recipe number 1 to restore the nervous system, with migraines. To prepare the broth, you need to take dried shiksha herb (2 tablespoons) and pour boiling water (0.5 liters), put on a low heat for 5-7 minutes, then wrap it warmly and leave for 40 minutes, and then strain. Reception scheme: 3 tablespoons 4-5 times a day.
Prescription number 2 for the treatment of epilepsy. To prepare the broth, you need to take shiksha berries (60 pcs.) And pour boiling water (1 glass), put in a water bath for 30 minutes, then insist all night. Reception scheme: for adults 1 tablespoon 7 times a day (reception time from 8 am to 8 pm), regardless of food. Children - 1 teaspoon.
Prescription number 3 for the treatment of eye diseases: cataracts, glaucoma, dry eye syndrome, vascular disorders. For cooking, you need to take 1 tablespoon of dry raw shiksha and steam in a small amount of boiling water (2 tablespoons of water is enough). The raw material should be cooled and squeezed through cheesecloth. Reception scheme: in the form of drops, instill 5-6 times a day, in the lower eyelid. The course of treatment is 90 days.
Prescription number 4 for the treatment of manic-depressive syndrome on the background of alcoholism or drug addiction. You should take 4 tablespoons of dried shiksha raw materials, pour 1 liter of milk whey, put on fire and bring to a boil. The resulting broth must be poured into a thermos and insisted. Reception scheme: 1 glass 5 times a day.
Recipe number 5 for overcoming fatigue and overwork, treatment of seizures, paralysis, insomnia. To prepare the broth, you need to take dry shiksha herb (1 tablespoon) and pour boiling water (500 ml), put on low heat and boil for 5-7 minutes. Reception scheme: 2-3 sips 5-6 times a day - 2 days, after which the broth is re-poured with boiling water and treatment continues. The broth is poured until the grass ceases to give green color.
Shiksha for epilepsy

Infusion and decoction recipes
Prescription number 1 for the treatment of epilepsy. To prepare the infusion, you need to take dried shiksha herb (2 tablespoons) and pour boiling water (0.5 liters), put on a low heat for 5-7 minutes, then strain. Reception scheme: 5-7 times a day, 1 sip. It is recommended to take such a remedy for 1 month.
Recipe number 2. To prepare the broth, take the aboveground part of the shiksha and the fruits in equal proportions (10 grams each). 20 g of raw materials are poured with boiling water (200 ml), covered with a lid, placed in a water bath for 15–20 minutes. Reception scheme: 1/2 (1/3) glass 3 times a day, taken before meals. Treatment continues until the attacks stop. For prophylaxis, the remedy is advised to take 1 month 4 times a year.
Siberian shiksha
Siberian shiksha is a low, creeping shrub, the height of which is no more than 20 cm, and the length of the leaves reaches 1 cm. The plant branches strongly from the base. Young branches are elongated, covered with hairs and sessile glands. The leaves of the shiksha resemble needles in structure, their length is 5–7 mm, they are alternate or pseudo-whorled-contiguous, directed downward, almost dull.
Shiksha flowers are small, three-petalled, their color is pink or dark red. The fruits are berries about 5 mm in diameter, rich black, rarely red. In appearance, shiksha is very similar to blueberries. A bluish bloom forms on the berries, the skin is tough. One berry contains 6 to 9 hard seeds. The berries have a sour taste, they contain a lot of juice, which is able to replace water.
Siberian shiksha is a medicinal plant; fruits and aerial parts are used as medicinal raw materials. Harvesting of berries should be done in September, and the aboveground part - during the flowering period (June-July). It is recommended to dry raw materials in a well-ventilated area, if possible - under a canopy. The shelf life of raw materials is short - only 1 year.
Preparations prepared on the basis of shiksha have a diuretic, anticonvulsant, sedative, hypotensive, choleretic, phytoncidal effect. This plant is one of the most effective remedies for the treatment of epilepsy, nervous disorders, and alcohol addiction. The broth should be filtered. Reception scheme: in the morning for kidney disease, in the evening as a tonic to relieve fatigue - 1 glass each.
Recipe number 2 to combat dandruff and hair loss. It is required to take 4 tablespoons of raw materials (chopped herbs) and pour boiling water (2 glasses), close the container tightly with a lid and infuse the contents for 1 hour. The infusion is intended for rinsing hair after washing.
Shiksha black
Black shiksha is an evergreen shrub, the branches of which are creeping, their length is about 1 m. The leaves are narrow, similar to needles, dense, dark green, sticking out to the sides. The flowers are small, pink or dark red. The fruit is a black berry with a bluish bloom. The peculiarity of this plant is that its berries live all winter. Black shiksha blooms from late May to June. The fruits ripen in late August - September.
Black shiksha is native to the eastern and European part of the Arctic, it is distributed in the Far East, in Western and Eastern Siberia, in the tundra and taiga belts. The plant prefers cold places with moist soil.
The berries are suitable for human consumption, moreover, they, like the aerial part of the plant, have healing properties. It is known that one handful of berries freely replaces a sip of water. Animals eat shiksha berries with pleasure, getting important nutrients and vitamins from them.
A large amount of ascorbic acid, as well as carbohydrates, triterpenoids, essential oil, flavonoids, triterpene coumarins, tannins, fatty oil and wax were found in the composition of black shiksha fruits. The leaves of the plant contain vitamin C, alkaloids, phenol carboxylic acids (in particular coffee), flavonoids, anthocyanins, coumarins (ellagolic acid), tannins.
Thanks to this composition, the plant is an irreplaceable drug in the treatment of a number of diseases. Decoctions, infusions, compotes and teas prepared on its basis help to cope with headaches, nervous disorders, depression, convulsions, epilepsy. This type of shiksha is recommended for the treatment of diseases of the genitourinary system, it is an indispensable remedy for the treatment of kidneys and liver. Also, the plant has a positive effect on high blood pressure.
Contraindications to the use of shiksha
Shiksha treatment is carried out only as prescribed by a doctor. Its use is contraindicated during pregnancy, as well as during lactation.
