Scientists suggest curing cancer with HIV

At a Hebrew University, scientists began proposing treatments for selected blood cancers using a protein that, however, was strangely isolated from the HIV virus. Scientists, so to speak, "set" the deadly HIV virus on harmful, cancer cells, it was described in detail in the newspaper "Yediot Ahronot".

For ten years, Professor Moshe Kotler, from the Hebrew University, Department of Immunology, has been studying in his laboratory all the possibilities of how the immunodeficiency virus can successfully fight deadly cancer cells.

This unusual idea, to use HIV as a "weapon" against malignant cancer cells, came to Moshe Kotler, when he, together with his colleague Roni Novarsky, learned that the Vif protein, which is contained in the immunodeficiency virus, is able to prevent so that cancer cells recover from damage caused by radiation therapy.

In the overwhelming majority, after exposure to an increased, even high dose of radiation, the DNA of cancer cells is destroyed, and they are not able to continue dividing further, which in turn leads to their complete death. However, there are other cases when cancer cells again restore their DNA, after which they acquire, so to speak, "immunity" resistance to radiation. In these difficult cases, which are already called "hopeless", the Vif protein can help, since it plays a very important role in the replication of the immunodeficiency virus.

Scientists from Israel propose a new method of cancer treatment, namely, before carrying out the irradiation procedure, injecting the Vif protein, which is isolated from the HIV virus, into the patient's blood, it will not allow cancer cells to restore their DNA again. At the end of such treatment, sick patients need to undergo several more sessions of radiotherapy.

Also, scientists, researchers, noted that with such treatment, only one protein is used, which is contained in the HIV virus, then there is no threat of infection with AIDS during the entire course of treatment. Scientists from Israel really hope that when treating cancer with such a technique, there will not be a large number of various complications and side effects.

This method of treatment can be successfully, and it should be noted, very effectively used for the treatment of blood cancer, in general, this technique is good for treating myeloma and lymphoma. Now scientists continue, hope that this technique will also be very successful, to help with other types of cancer, for example, leukemia.

Scientists from Israel will share and acquaint their colleagues with all the results of their long-term work at a special conference "BioMed", which will be opened at the Ganei Taaruha Exhibition Center in Tel Aviv on May 22, 2012.

A little earlier, there was information that scientists from America had found a way that successfully helps to protect healthy cells of the body during chemotherapy, which is carried out when malignant tumors are detected.

Bone Sarcoma - Causes, Signs, Symptoms And Treatment Of Bone Sarcoma

Bone sarcomaBone sarcoma is a malignant tumor of hard tissue. The disease differs from cancer in that a cancerous tumor begins with the infection of epithelial cells located in the internal cavity of organs. The development of malignant neoplasms in sarcoma is not associated with damage to cells of any specific organs
