About Endofalk

Endofalk
Endofalk

Endofalk is an osmotic laxative drug. The drug is produced in powder form, the grains of the powder themselves have the form of small white crystals. Endofalk has a fruity aroma.

The active substances of the medicinal product are:

  • Macrogol 3350.
  • Potassium chloride.
  • Sodium chloride and bicarbonate.

Colloidal silicon dioxide, orange flavor and sodium saccharinate are used as auxiliary components.

The drug is available in laminated bags, so it is convenient to take it with you. The packages are in a cardboard box. The shelf life of the medicinal product is 5 years.

Drug action

Drug action
Drug action

The drug causes diarrhea, which is possible due to the active components that make up its composition. Macrogol blocks the absorption of water in the intestines and stomach. Therefore, fluid accumulates in the lumen of the digestive tract and contributes to the speedy evacuation of its contents.

So that a person does not dehydrate the body against the background of diarrhea that has opened, electrolytes of salts are present in the composition of Endofalk. They regulate the water-salt balance, do not allow it to go beyond the normal range.

Reception of Endofalk allows you to eliminate excess gas formation in the intestine, which is possible due to the content of polyethylene glycol in it.

Indications for use

Indications for taking the drug:

  • Upcoming X-ray examination of the intestine.
  • Endoscopic examination of the digestive system, this includes not only FGDS, but also colonoscopy.
  • Upcoming surgical intervention on the digestive tract.

Method of administration and dosage

One package of the drug contains 6 sachets, which will be enough to prepare 3 liters of solution. For a full bowel cleansing, an adult needs exactly this amount of the drug (3-4 liters).

To prepare a liter of solution, the following recommendations must be observed:

  • In half a liter of warm water, dissolve 2 packages of the drug.
  • Water is added to the solution until its total volume is equal to one liter.
  • The prepared composition can be stored no more than 3 hours at room temperature and no longer than two days in the refrigerator.
  • Drink a glass of solution every 10 minutes. For an hour, you need to take at least a liter of the drug.

Recommendations for use:

  • If a person is going to have a colonoscopy, then the drug is taken 4 hours before it.
  • You can also drink the solution the night before.
  • Another option for taking the drug: the night before, take one part of the drug, and drink the rest of it in the morning.

2-3 hours before taking Endofalk, you need to refuse food. To minimize the discomfort from using the drug, you need to drink it in small sips. When a person takes a medicine in a hospital and, for one reason or another, cannot drink it on his own, then the solution is injected using a nasogastric tube. This procedure is performed the night before the upcoming examination or surgery.

Endofalk or Fortrans, which is better?

Endofalk or Fortrans
Endofalk or Fortrans

Both Endofalk and Fortrans are available in sachets containing powder for solution preparation. The main substance in them is polyethylene glycol and macrogol. This polymer is practically not absorbed by the intestinal walls, but has an excellent ability to retain water molecules on itself, thereby preventing its absorption.

Fortrans and Endofalk act in a similar way. The difference between them comes down only to the fact that Endofalk contains macrogol 3350, and Fortrans contains macrogol 4000. These numbers reflect the molecular weight of polyethylene glycol, but they do not give practically any significant difference in terms of the effect.

Both drugs prevent intestinal fluid from being absorbed. This leads to liquefaction of feces and their accelerated evacuation.

So, the main difference between drugs is that they differ in the quantitative content of electrolytes and macrogol.

Fortrans does not contain any flavors or other flavors, so the drug has a subtle smell and a sweetish-salty taste, which is given to it by potassium and sodium chlorides. Endofalk contains orange flavor.

Endofalk has more contraindications for use than Fortrans. However, this is due to the fact that a different number of clinical trials of drugs were carried out, and they were also conducted in different countries that have different legislative acts. For example, one drug is allowed for people over 15 years old, and another drug is allowed for people over 18 years old. Although their composition is almost identical, as is the cost.

To cleanse the colon, you will need one pack of Fortrans, which contains 2 sachets, or one pack of Endofalk, which contains 8 sachets. Endofalk will cost about 10% less.

Reviews

The opinion of doctors

Vladimir Sevastyanov, doctor: “I believe that Endofalk is a universal remedy that perfectly copes with the process of preparing the intestines for the cleansing process. Reviews about him are extremely positive. Endofalk cleanses the digestive tract with high quality, which is so important before carrying out diagnostic procedures.

Alexey Desyatinechenko, doctor: “I recommend that my patients take Endofalk, not Fortrans, since there are much fewer complaints from patients about this drug. People tolerate it better. In terms of effectiveness, these drugs are absolutely identical."

Reviews

Ellina: “Before the last examination of the intestines, the doctor recommended that I take Lavacol. It tastes like mineral water. The last time I also wanted to buy it, but it was not in the pharmacy, so I took Endofalk. I didn't like its taste very much - it was too cloying. He made me sick. And I had to drink as much as three liters, a glass every 10 minutes. Why complicate things so much? If next time I find Lavacol, I'd better take it."

Victoria: “To make the diagnosis as reliable as possible, the doctor recommended that I drink Endofalk before undergoing it. The drug prevents water from leaving the body completely. Therefore, dehydration does not develop. They injected it to me through a probe, I think that about 3 liters of the solution were spent. Then I went to the toilet once, after which my stomach twisted a little. This was the end of all the troubles. The intestines were cleaned and I had an x-ray."

Anna: “The doctor recommended that I take Endofalk instead of setting an enema. She started taking it the day before the study at 15.00. I drank every 10-15 minutes, so I drank 3 liters in 3 hours. After 1.5 hours after the first intake, the cleaning process began. From about 4 a.m. until the end of the next day, my stomach was seething, so the diagnosis had to be postponed. I wish I had an enema."
