Fibromyoma of the breast, nodular fibroid
Fibroids are benign growths of muscle and connective tissue. It does not spread to neighboring tissues, grows slowly, does not give secondary foci. The size of the knot varies from tens of grams to tens of kilograms. Fibroids can occur in both men and women. However, in the weaker sex, these neoplasms occur much more often.
Causes of breast fibroids
The most common cause of breast fibroids is hormonal imbalance in the body. Also, stress at work, irregular sex life, problems in family relationships, and dissatisfaction with one's own life can provoke a neoplasm and increase the risk of its occurrence.
Often the reason can be difficult childbirth, the middle age of the woman in labor. Hormonal disruptions of the menstrual cycle, endocrine disorders, chronic inflammation in the small pelvis, pathologies in the biliary tract and heredity provoke the formation of breast fibroids. It is noted that obese ladies are more susceptible to the development of benign tumors than asthenic persons.
Diagnostics
Fibromyoma is a painless tumor, which sometimes complicates its timely diagnosis. As long as the neoplasm does not bother a woman, it often goes unnoticed. Only after reaching a larger size, the lump can cause a sensation of breast swelling before menstruation, causing pain to the woman.
Therefore, it is important to regularly conduct breast self-examination by self-massaging the mammary glands in circular movements in different directions. At the first suspicion of seals, you should consult a mammologist. He, in turn, will conduct a visual examination, palpation and, if necessary, prescribe an ultrasound examination, which has the greatest informative value in the diagnosis of fibroids.
Breast fibroids treatment
Breast fibroids are usually treated with surgery. The tumor is excised with part of the breast through a small incision. After that, a small seam remains, which does not subsequently spoil the aesthetic appearance of an organ so important for every woman. In case of impossibility of timely surgical treatment, the patient's condition is monitored by medicinal hormonal and non-hormonal drugs.
What is nodular fibroids?
Fibroid nodes are ball-shaped and, unlike malignant tumors, have smooth edges. Single nodes are rare, usually they are formed in multiple groups, while the nodes have different germination vectors. There are two types of multinodular fibroids: submucous or internal (the nodes grow only inward) and, less often, subserous (the nodes grow only outward).
Causes of nodular fibroids
Most often, nodular fibroids develop in the uterus in women of childbearing age. In the climacteric period, the tumor can both increase and decrease, or disappear altogether. Young girls and girls do not have tumors. This confirms that the occurrence of fibroids is due to a malfunction of the hormonal background of the body, namely, increased production of estrogen and lowered progesterone.
Also, various mechanical and surgical effects during abortion, during curettage, during operations and so on increase the likelihood of nodular fibroids, which subsequently leads to the formation of adhesions.
Many experts argue that stress, infections, ovarian cysts, hormonal contraceptives, obesity, irregular sex life, liver disease, and heredity also become the causes of neoplasm development.
Symptoms of nodular fibroids
Since nodular fibroids most often affect the uterus, women of childbearing age should pay attention to the following symptoms:
· Menstrual irregularities, profuse bleeding;
· Pain in the lower abdomen and lower back;
· Pain during intercourse;
· Constipation, frequent urination;
· Enlarged abdomen, flatulence.
Sometimes nodular fibroadenoma of the uterus becomes the cause of miscarriages or infertility.
Diagnostics and treatment
Due to the fact that nodular fibroids, especially in the early stages, may not cause painful sensations, sometimes it is diagnosed accidentally or at later stages of its development. The most effective method for diagnosing a benign tumor is ultrasound. Also, hysteroscopy or laparoscopy can be additionally used to detect neoplasms in the uterus.
Treatment is performed surgically. If it is possible to conduct a conservative operation, only fibroid nodes are removed.
