Ikotnik
Useful properties and use of hiccups
Botanical characteristics of hiccups
Ikotnik is a biennial herb of the cruciferous family. Such a short-pubescent plant grows up to 60 cm in height. It has a short taproot and an erect, branched stem with alternate lanceolate leaves. Small white flowers with four petals are collected in dense clusters that elongate when small seeds ripen.
The fruits are presented in the form of oval pods with densely pubescent stellate hairs. The pods contain flat, lumpy, brown seeds. Hiccup blooms from late May to September. Fruit ripening occurs at the end of August. This plant prefers loamy and sandy loam soils. You can find both dense thickets and scattered settlements in wastelands, meadows and forest edges, as well as along roads.
Useful properties of hiccups
It has been proven that the tops of a plant such as hiccups are incredibly rich in protein and various trace elements, in particular magnesium, phosphorus and sodium. Hiccup seeds contain a unique fatty oil. Such a plant has a strong hypotensive effect. It also exhibits antibacterial properties. In addition, hiccups have been shown to contain the glycoside sinigrin and alkaloids. Often, hiccups are prescribed as a sedative. It should be noted that it also has an astringent effect.
Application of the hiccup
Hiccup is an effective remedy for choking, nervous hiccups, bronchial asthma, postpartum hemorrhages, coughs, as well as headaches and stomach diseases. Healing infusion of white flowers is indicated for the treatment of diarrhea in adults and childhood diarrhea.
To strengthen the nervous system and achieve a general strengthening effect, baths are prescribed from a decoction of hiccups. With a very sharp painful weight loss, such a plant is simply irreplaceable. Hiccup decoction can also be used to wash contaminated wounds. For female diseases, a decoction is often prescribed inside.
Infusion of seeds helps with dyspepsia in young children. To prepare an infusion of flowers, you need to pour 2 tablespoons of raw materials with a glass of boiling water, then leave the mixture for 2-3 hours and strain. Such a beneficial remedy should be taken 1 tablespoon up to six times a day.
Ikotnik gray
Ikotnik gray is a biennial plant with small flowers and lanceolate leaves. Hiccup inflorescences are collected in graceful apical brushes. This plant blooms in the warm season, starting in May and ending in September. In bivalve pods are oval small seeds of brown or grayish hue.
This type of hiccup bears fruit from July until the first frost. The plant prefers open places in steppe meadows, fields, along roads and in thinned forest areas. Ikotnik gray contains alkaloids, coumarins, sinigrin glycoside, flavonoids, tannins, as well as organic acids and ascorbic acid. This plant is used as an excellent sedative for pain and cramps, for washing ulcers and wounds.
Contraindications to the use of hiccups
Such a plant has practically no contraindications, except for individual intolerance. It should also be noted that with hypotension and pregnancy, the hiccup should be used with caution.
