Prevention of prickly heat in a child
Each parent must know the basic rules of prevention that will help protect the child and keep him healthy. The first thing you need to know is try to maintain thermal conditions Do not wrap your baby tightly in diapers. Many mothers think that this is how they create comfortable conditions for the baby, but this is an absolutely misconception, which, by the way, can lead to dire consequences.
In order to prevent the development of prickly heat, you should adhere to a few simple rules.
- Remember that prickly heat on the baby's skin most often appears in the summer, since it is on hot days that sweating increases.
- Clothes made from natural fabrics will help reduce sweating of the child. For example, cotton fabric allows air to pass through well and thus creates natural ventilation.
- Bed linen should also be chosen from natural materials. The skin on these sheets will breathe.
- Monitor the temperature in the nursery. Optimum performance ranges from +20 to +22 ° C.
- Dress your child for the weather. Instead of one warm sweater for a walk, it is better to wear two thinner ones in case it gets hot and you want to take one off.
- Don't swaddle your baby too tight. Leave some room for movement.
- Choose a cream according to the season. In summer it is better to give preference to water-based creams (they are absorbed faster and allow the skin to breathe). In winter, thicker and more oily creams will do.
- Use baby oil to soften the skin.
- In the first six months of life, bathe your baby every day, and from six months - every other day. In summer, the number of baths can be increased, if necessary, up to two to three times a day.
- In order not to wash off the natural protective layer of the skin, it is best to bathe your baby with detergents no more than once a day, preferably in the evening.
-
After washing and bathing, treat the baby's skin with powder, baby oil or cream, and it is better to apply the product in a thin, even layer. The skin must first be blotted with a towel.
- Ventilate the area, but avoid drafts and direct sunlight.
- Fresh air is good for baby's skin, especially in warm, dry and calm weather.
Try for newborns and older children to purchase loose fit and natural fabrics as soon as they can create a comfortable environment. Indeed, as many know, air in natural tissues penetrates freely through the pores. In the summer, try to bathe your baby every evening or pour boiled water with herbal decoctions or a weak solution of potassium permanganate over him, as it is at this time of the year that prickly heat appears very often. Medicinal herbs, as mentioned above, disinfect the skin after the secretions from the sweat glands have been washed off.
