General principles of nutrition for patients
When a person wants to avoid recurrence of cancer pathology after surgery, a course of chemotherapy, to reduce the symptoms of an organ disease, you need to seriously revise your diet.
What should be done in this case? The main condition is that food for stomach cancer should not contain carcinogenic substances. You need to adhere to the following rules:
- Reduce portions consumed. In this case, you can eat up to 10 times a day;
-
Monitor the temperature of the food. Do not eat very hot or cold food. Food is digested well, close in temperature to normal, human;
- Food should be well chewed without large pieces. This reduces the stress on the stomach and promotes proper absorption of nutrients;
- Steam or boil food. Fried foods irritate the stomach lining;
- Eat only freshly prepared meals;
- It is necessary to abandon harsh seasonings and spices, although garlic is useful when eating after gastric resection for cancer.
- To increase the volume of exclusively "light" food of plant origin. Vegetables and fruits, fresh or cooked, contain fiber, which contributes to the proper release of the organ. Enzymes and vitamins contained in plant foods limit the spread of malignant cells.
- Nutrition after removal of the stomach for cancer should be with a minimum amount of salt and the fat composition should not exceed 30%, and the bulk of the fat should come from plant products;
- It is especially difficult to organize nutrition in case of stomach cancer of the 4th degree with metastases. In such cases, patients often refuse to eat at all.
