What matters is the room where the berry will be stored. It should be dry, shaded and well ventilated. Place the watermelon in such a way that the area of its contact with other surfaces is minimal. The same applies to the contact of the fruit with other watermelons. The surface on which the green berry lies should be soft. Straw is ideal. The optimum air temperature is +1 - +3 degrees with a humidity of 80-85%. If the temperature is higher, the pulp will become mushy and sour.
It would be best not to put the watermelon on the shelf, but to hang it on a hook. To do this, it is wrapped in paper and placed in a mesh bag. Thus, the fetus will be able to breathe, and there will be no contact with the surface at all.
An old way of storing watermelons is to coat them with alabaster. To do this, dry alabaster is diluted with water and applied in a dense layer to the berry.
